VESTRY
St. John's parish is led in a partnership of the Vestry, made up of six lay people elected by the congregation, and the Rector, a clergy person (priest) called by the vestry to serve as spiritual leader of the parish.
The Vestry's responsibilities include managing the finances of the parish.
The church canons also specify a responsibility for the Vestry, together with the Rector, to promote the spiritual welfare of the members of the church.
Vestry members serve a three-year term, with two Vestry members rotating off each year.
Two Vestry members serve as wardens, a Senior Warden and a Junior Warden. In addition to serving as a support for the Rector and other clergy of the parish, the wardens oversee particular ministry areas and act as liaison for the parish and the Rector.
St. John's current Vestry members are:
Billy Hibbits Senior Warden for 2010 (term expires January 2011) Sherri Partin, Junior Warden for 2010 (term expires January 2011) Jeff Davis Clerk for 2010 (term expires January 2013) June VanGorder (term expires January 2012) Jerry Hollifield (term expires January 2012) Kenneth Phillips (term expires January 2013) Barbara Flannery (term expires January 2013)
St. John's Vestry meets on the second Sunday of each month following the 11:00 a.m. worship service.
